Outlook Express Setup – Modify an Existing Account
This page describes how to modify an existing e-mail account in Outlook Express. If you intend to setup a new e-mail account in Outlook Express, please refer to the page titled Outlook Express Setup – Create a New Account
Step 1 - Open Outlook Express

Step 2 -
In Outlook Express; go to the "Tools" menu and click on "Accounts."

Step 3 -
In the "Mail" tab; select the account you want to modify, and then click "Properties".

Step 4 - Change the Mail Account name (if appropriate)
Step 5 - Modify your Name & Organization name as you would like it to appear on your outgoing e-mail
Step 6 - Modify your E-mail address (if appropriate). You should also type your E-mail address into the Reply address field as well.
Step 7 - Make sure the checkbox next to "Include this account..." is selected.

Step 8 -
Click the Servers tab
Step 9 - Enter "mail.your-domain.com" for your incoming (POP3) mail server. Be sure to use your actual domain name here!
Step 10 - Enter "mail.your-domain.com" for your outgoing (SMTP) mail server
Step 11 - Enter your full e-mail address as your account name, i.e "me@my-domain.com"
Step 12 - Enter your email password in the Password field
Step 13 - At the bottom of the window under "Outgoing Mail Server," check the box that says "My server requires authentication" and click the "Settings" button

Step 14 - Select the circle next to "Use the same settings as my incoming mail server"

Step 15 - Click "OK"
Step 16 - Click the "Advanced" tab
Step 17 - Under "Server Port Numbers," change the "Outgoing mail (SMTP)" port from 25 to 587

Step 18 - Click "OK", then "Close"
