What exactly does 100% uptime mean? Does it mean your site is never down, that the days of unplanned outages are gone forever?

Unfortunately...  no.

The Intertruss Hosting 100% Uptime Guarantee represents our commitment to providing our customers with the most reliable web and e-mail hosting services available today. While we make every effort to deliver consistent, uninterrupted service, some unplanned events will inevitably occur.

Our philisophy is simple: If your site isn't online, you shouldn't pay. If you experience an interruption to your hosting services, we'll credit a portion of your hosting fee back to your account, up to 100% of your monthly service charge.

If your site is down for any reason other than previously scheduled maintenance, please contact us immediately. We'll credit your account 10% of your monthly hosting fee for every 4 hours of continuous downtime, up to 100% of your monthly hosting fee. For the purpose of this guarantee, downtime is measured from the time we receive notification from you (the customer) until the time web and/or e-mail service is restored. Credit requests must be received within 2 days of the qualifying event.

The only exceptions to this guarantee are previously announced maintenance outages. There are two types of maintenance outages:
Scheduled Maintenance is necessary to maintain the performance of our network. Outages associated with scheduled maintenance activities will be announced at least 5 days in advance of the event. Scheduled maintenance outages typically occur during the late night/early morning hours on weekends.
Emergency Maintenance might be required when we discover an issue that requires immediate intervention by our technical staff. Emergency Outages can occur anytime but must be proceeded by at least 4 hours of notice in order to be excluded from the guarantee. Intertruss Hosting will make every effort to conduct emergency maintenance activities outside of normal business hours.
